Describing your glass

Not all glass has the manufacturer's mark on it, and it is very rare to have a pattern name or number. Over a period of time shapes change and sizes alter, often reflecting the prevailing fashion of drinking. For instance the red wine glasses of the 1950's can be small enough for them to be classed as port glasses today. Champagne saucers were often deep enough to use for desserts. Old pattern books describe 'Highball' or 'Pony' glasses, which today may be used for soft drinks.

It is therefore helpful if we have the dimensions of the glass you wish to match. This should include the overall height, the height of the stem and the diameter of the bowl.

Patterns can be very similar, sometimes varying only by one cut. A photograph or line drawing would therefore help us greatly in accurately matching your request. This isn't necessary at this point - we will contact you following your initial enquiry.

Unattributed glass

We wil try our best to identify a manufacturer and pattern on unknown glass. If this is not possible we will not be able to search for similar pieces. We are at present also unable to search for the following:

- British glass in current production, such as Tudor Crystal;
- modern imported glass, including that produced for Waterford, Stuart and Edinburgh;
- pressed or moulded glass;
- British and Irish manufacturers not mentioned below.

Try us with:

- Waterford
- Stuart
- Edinburgh
- Royal Brierley
- Webb Corbett and Royal Doulton
- Webbs and Thomas Webb

We do not keep the following in stock but will search for you on request:

- Dartington
- Walsh Walsh
- Discontinued Tudor

Pricing Policy

The price of each piece is competitive and compares to a bespoke replacement or modern glass of similar quality. The price will reflect the cost when in production, the intricacies of the cut and the availability of the item. Some shapes and patterns were made in smaller quantities than others. The cost of postage, packaging and postal insurance will depend upon the individual order. There are no other costs.
